Approximately 25 years ago, as I sought out the life of the woman I would come to write about in my first book, I stumbled upon connections that could only have been fate's hand in a story that yearned to be told...
Just one of many synchronistic finds that enabled me to lay out the life of Esther, stumbling upon the recollections of Ed Evans and Glen Gress was perhaps most poignant.
The cassette tapes of my interviews with them in the early 90s barely survived the toll of time, but with the help of modern technology, I have been able to bring the cadence of their voices to life once again… and with that, the desire to tell some of Esther's story from my book in the best way possible.
More like this, as well as audiobook excerpts from THIS FANTASTIC STRUGGLE, a tale chock full of colorful characters and correspondence, will be shared moving forward…

Special Thanks to Adrienne Wehr of The Golden Boat here on Substack— My dear old friend who, after a recent theatrical performance that hearkened back to Glen & Ed, shared my glee in resurrecting their voice, and mutual desire for more, as we pondered the wealth of creative inspiration these two men handed down in the world.
